Funding & Referrals
Funding & Referrals
How You Can Access Care
For You Psychology accepts a range of private, medicare and third-party referral pathways. The funding or referral arrangement applicable to your care should be confirmed prior to commencement. Services may be provided in person or via Telehealth where clinically appropriate and where permitted under the relevant funding or referral arrangement.
Private Referrals
A medical referral is not required to attend psychology privately.
Clients may contact For You Psychology directly to arrange psychological therapy, parent consultation or assessment.
Private health insurance rebates may be available depending on the individual’s insurer and level of cover.
Medicare Referrals
Eligible clients may access Medicare rebates for psychological treatment under an appropriate Medicare referral pathway.
Under Better Access, eligible patients can currently access Medicare benefits for up to 10 individual mental health treatment services per calendar year. Referrals can be made by eligible medical practitioners, including GPs, psychiatrists and paediatricians, subject to the applicable Medicare requirements.
Please provide your referral documentation prior to or at your first appointment.
Specialist Referrals
For You Psychology accepts referrals from psychiatrists, paediatricians and other medical specialists for psychological assessment and treatment.
Where the referral is intended to support Medicare-funded psychological treatment, eligibility will depend on the relevant Medicare referral requirements. Services Australia confirms that psychiatrists and paediatricians are among the medical practitioners able to refer eligible patients for Better Access psychological treatment.
NDIS
For You Psychology accepts self-managed and plan-managed NDIS participants where psychology is appropriate to the participant’s needs, goals and available funding.
Self-Managed: The participant or nominee manages payment for services and claims eligible supports through their NDIS funding.
Plan-Managed: Invoices may be submitted to the participant’s nominated plan manager in accordance with the agreed arrangements.
Current NDIS guidance allows participants with self-managed or plan-managed funding to generally use registered or unregistered providers, subject to particular supports that require registered providers.
For You Psychology does not currently accept NDIA-managed funding.
Workers Compensation
For You Psychology accepts eligible NSW workers compensation referrals. Treatment is subject to the relevant claim, referral and insurer approval requirements. SIRA currently requires psychologists providing specified treatment in the NSW Workers Compensation Scheme to hold SIRA approval.
