Parent Consultation

For You Psychology provides psychological consultation to parents and caregivers seeking clinical guidance regarding their child’s emotional, behavioural or neurodevelopmental needs. Parent consultation may be provided independently or alongside a child’s individual psychological treatment.

Parent Consultation May Be Appropriate for

Emotional & Behavioural Dysregulation Anxiety & Avoidance School Refusal or School-Related Distress ADHD & Executive-Functioning Difficulties Autism & Neurodevelopmental Differences Difficulties with Routines or Transitions Parent-Child Conflict Significant Behavioural Concerns Adjustment Following Diagnosis Differing Parental Responses to a Child's Needs

Clinical Focus

Consultation begins with assessment of the presenting concern, relevant developmental factors, family context and patterns occurring around the difficulty.

Intervention may include psychoeducation, formulation of behaviour within its developmental and psychological context, co-regulation strategies, behavioural and environmental intervention, Collaborative Problem Solving, executive-functioning support and developmentally appropriate parent responses.

Flexible Care

In-Person and Telehealth Appointments Available

Parent consultations are available both in person and via Telehealth. Telehealth can provide a convenient option for parent-only appointments where the child is not required to attend.
