Keeping Care Accessible

Adult Psychology

For You Psychology provides individual psychological therapy for adults experiencing emotional, psychological, relational and adjustment difficulties.

Treatment begins with assessment of the presenting concerns and relevant history, followed by development of an individualised clinical formulation and treatment plan.

Areas of Practice

Adult psychological therapy may address presentations including:

Anxiety Disorders & Panic Depressive Presentations Stress & Psychological Burnout Trauma-Related Difficulties Perinatal Mental Health Adjustment to Significant Life Events Grief & Bereavement Interpersonal & Relationship Difficulties Perfectionism & Avoidance Emotional Regulation Difficulties Workplace-Related Stress ADHD & Executive-Functioning Difficulties Autism & Neurodivergence Difficulties Associated with Significant Transitions or Changes in Role

Assessment and Formulation

Early sessions focus on developing a clear understanding of the presenting concerns, relevant history, current stressors, patterns of functioning and factors that may be contributing to or maintaining the difficulty. This formulation informs the selection and sequencing of psychological interventions.

Psychological Intervention

Treatment is selected according to the clinical formulation rather than a predetermined program. Intervention may draw on Cognitive Behaviour Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, DBT-informed approaches, attachment-informed work, trauma-focused intervention and other psychological approaches appropriate to the clinical presentation. Progress and treatment priorities are reviewed throughout therapy.
